Is waxing a good choice for you?

Waxing suits you if you want smooth skin for three to six weeks and you are happy to repeat the visit. Hair is pulled out with the root, so regrowth is usually softer and takes longer to show than stubble after a razor.

It does not remove hair for good. The follicle stays active, and the hair returns. If your goal is to stop growth altogether, the only method the FDA allows to be marketed as permanent is electrolysis. Read the electrolysis vs laser guide, or look at our electrolysis services. Many clients wax the areas they do not plan to treat for good and use electrolysis on the stubborn ones.

How often should you wax?

Most people book every four to six weeks, once the hair is about a quarter inch long, roughly the length of a grain of rice. A short stretch of growth gives the wax something to grip.

AreaTypical returnWhy
Brows and face3 to 4 weeksFacial hair grows back fastest
Underarms, bikini, Brazilian4 to 5 weeksHair cycles are staggered
Arms and legs5 to 6 weeksSlower, finer regrowth
Back5 to 6 weeksCoarser, denser hair

A typical rhythm, not a promise. Hair growth depends on genetics, hormones and the season.

After three or four regular visits, many clients notice that the hair grows back thinner and more evenly. Skipping visits or shaving in between resets that pattern, so try to keep the schedule steady.

What happens during a wax appointment?

A visit takes between 15 minutes and two hours, depending on the area, and every step happens in a private treatment room. Your esthetician checks your skin, cleanses the zone and applies a thin layer of wax. A fresh applicator is used for each application, with no double dipping.

The wax is lifted against the direction of growth, and the skin is held taut so the pull is quick. Stray hairs are cleared with tweezers. A calming product finishes the service. You can ask for a pause at any moment, and sensitive areas such as the bikini line get extra care.

Aida Khazieva, a licensed cosmetologist and electrologist with 20+ years of experience, leads every service in the studio. You can read about her on the about page.

How do you prepare, and how do you care for skin afterward?

Preparation is simple: let the hair reach a quarter inch and keep the skin clean and dry. Aftercare is about avoiding heat and friction for a day.

Before your visit

For 24 hours afterward

A light pink tone and small bumps can show up and usually fade within a day. Exfoliate gently starting on day three to help keep ingrown hairs away.

When should you not wax?

Skip waxing when the skin is thin, broken or reactive. Wax pulls the top layer of skin along with the hair, so some conditions call for a different approach.

Tell your esthetician about any of these before the service. If waxing is not right for you, trimming or electrolysis may be better, and the free consultation is the place to ask.

Questions

How much does waxing cost in Irvine?

Facial zones are $15, eyebrows $20, underarms $30, bikini $50, Brazilian $65 and full legs $75. A full body wax is $200. All prices are per area, so you only book what you need.

How long does a wax last?

Smooth skin usually lasts three to six weeks. Regrowth is often finer after a few regular visits, though results vary.

Is waxing permanent?

No. Waxing removes hair at the root, but the follicle keeps producing hair. Electrolysis is the only method the FDA allows to be marketed as permanent.

How long should my hair be before I wax?

About a quarter inch, or the length of a grain of rice. Shorter hair slips through the wax and longer hair is more uncomfortable.

Does a Brazilian wax hurt?

It is a strong pull, especially the first time. The service is quick, the skin is held taut, and you can pause whenever you need to. It tends to feel easier on later visits.

Can I wax if I use retinol?

Stop retinol and acids on the area at least 3 days before, and tell your esthetician. If you take prescription retinoids, waxing may not be safe, so ask at your consultation.

Can I book a wax and a facial together?

Yes. Many clients pair a brow or lip wax with a facial. Ask us to put them in the right order so your skin is not irritated.
