Is electrolysis a good fit for beach season?

Yes, because it removes hair at the root and leaves nothing to shave before a swimsuit day. People who live near the water tend to show skin more months of the year, so underarms, bikini line, legs and the upper lip get noticed more often. Razor stubble shows up by lunchtime. Wax and sugar leave bumps on many people.

Laser is common in Newport Beach, but it needs dark hair against light skin, and it can miss pale and gray strands. Electrolysis treats the hair itself, so skin tone does not change the plan. Read the full comparison on electrolysis vs laser.

How do you protect treated skin in the sun and salt water?

Keep a treated area out of strong sun and salt water for a day or two, and wear sunscreen on it afterward. Skin is a little pink and tender after a session, and sun on top of that can lead to dark marks that last longer than the redness.

Full aftercare is on our FAQ page and Aida goes over it at the end of your visit.

What does electrolysis cost for Newport Beach clients?

Prices are the same for every client, from $50 for the upper lip to $150 for a leg. Here are the areas people from the coast ask about most.

AreaTimePrice
Upper lip20 min$50
Chin30 min$65
Underarm45 min$90
Bikini60 min$110
Arm60 min$120
Leg60 min$150

The consultation is free, the first session is $25 off, and packages take 10% off 5 visits or 15% off 10 visits. More rates are on the prices page.

How many visits does a typical course take?

A small facial area usually needs 8 to 15 sessions over 9 to 18 months, and larger body areas take longer. Results vary with hair thickness, history and hormones.

AreaTypical sessionsTypical span
Upper lip or chin8 to 159 to 18 months
UnderarmsOften 8 to 159 to 15 months
Bikini lineMany sessions1 to 2 years for a full area

Typical, not a promise. Your plan is set at the consultation and adjusted as your hair responds.

What if my hair is gray, blonde or sun-lightened?

Gray and blonde hair is fine for electrolysis, since the current goes down the hair follicle and does not need pigment to work. Many clients come to us after laser missed their lighter hairs. See gray and blonde hair removal for what to expect.

Aida Khazieva, a licensed cosmetologist and electrologist with 20+ years of experience, picks thermolysis, galvanic or blend for each follicle. Learn more on her page.

When is the best time to drive from Newport Beach?

Mid-morning, early afternoon and after 7:30pm are the easiest times, because the 405 and the roads near the airport are busiest from about 7 to 9:30am and 4 to 7pm. We are open daily 8am to 9pm, so you rarely need to drive in the worst hour. Saturday midday is usually easier than a weekday evening commute.

How do you plan visits from Newport Beach?

Plan a standing slot, and your trips stay short and predictable.

What do Newport Beach clients ask about before they book?

Most ask three things: whether it hurts, whether it really lasts, and how it compares with the laser they already know. Electrolysis feels like warmth and quick stings, and Aida adjusts the pace for sensitive areas like the upper lip and bikini line.

On lasting results, the follicle that is treated fully does not grow again. New hairs can still appear for a while from follicles that were resting, which is why a course takes months and not weeks. Skin tone makes no difference to the plan, so tanned or very fair skin is treated the same way.

If you have a tan or sunburn, mention it when you book. Aida may ask you to reschedule while the skin heals.

Why does the studio suit people who travel or boat?

Standing appointments are easy to move, and we are open daily from 8am to 9pm. Newport Beach clients who are away for weeks in summer can pause and return, because follicle cycles run on their own schedule. A longer gap simply means more hairs have surfaced when you come back. Tell Aida about your travel plans at the consultation and she can set a schedule around them.

Questions

Do you have an office in Newport Beach?

No. Our only studio is in Irvine at 18021 Sky Park Circle, Suite N, near John Wayne Airport. Many Newport Beach clients drive about 15 to 25 minutes to see us.

Which way is fastest from Fashion Island?

MacArthur Boulevard north is the direct line to the airport area. Without traffic it takes about 15 minutes.

Is it worth driving from the coast for electrolysis?

Many clients say yes, because electrolysis is the only hair removal method the FDA allows to be marketed as permanent, and sessions are short. Start with the free consultation to judge for yourself.

Can I have a session right before a beach day?

It is better to wait. Keep the treated area out of sun, salt water and pools for about 48 hours, and use sunscreen afterward.

How often would I need to come at first?

Usually every week or two for the first months, then every 3 to 6 weeks. A small area like the upper lip is 20 minutes.

Will laser hair I had done in Newport Beach interfere?

No. If laser left light or gray hairs behind, electrolysis can treat them. Tell Aida what you had done and when.

Is the studio open on weekends?

Yes. We are open daily from 8am to 9pm, which lets you pick a quieter drive time.

Can I combine two areas to save trips?

Yes. Chin and upper lip, or underarms and bikini, are common pairs. A combined visit is booked as the sum of the two times.
