Is electrolysis a good option if you shave every day?

For many people it is, because daily shaving leaves bumps, dark spots and rough skin that electrolysis can reduce over time. Men with beard or neck bumps and women with a shadow on the jaw both come to us. The cause is often hair that curls back into the skin.

Once the follicle is treated, that hair does not return. Skin often looks calmer as the course goes on. Find out more about neck electrolysis, and the men's page covers beard lines and shoulders.

How do you work appointments into a workday?

Book the first slot of the day or the last one. At 8am the roads are quieter, and by 8pm the 405 has thinned.

Pink skin fades within hours, so a lunch visit is realistic for most people.

What does a visit cost, and what does a week add up to?

You pay per visit, and a small area can cost under $100 a week during the start phase. Here are the numbers.

PlanVisit priceWeekly cost at first
Upper lip$50 (20 min)$50
Chin$65 (30 min)$65
Neck$90 (45 min)$90
Underarm$90 (45 min)$90
Leg$150 (60 min)$150

The first session is $25 off. Five visits save 10%, ten visits save 15%. The prices page has the full list.

What is a typical electrolysis plan?

For a small area, plan on about 8 to 15 sessions over 9 to 18 months, with weekly visits early and wider gaps later.

StageGap between visitsWhat changes
First 3 monthsWeeklyDense growth is cleared
Months 4 to 92 to 3 weeksRegrowth is thinner
After month 94 to 6 weeksOnly stray hairs remain

Typical, not a promise. Hair type, hormones and skin vary by person.

Will it work after laser or waxing?

Yes. Laser and waxing leave behind hairs, and electrolysis can treat any of them. If you got laser and some light or gray hairs stayed, see gray and blonde hair removal. If you are comparing methods first, electrolysis vs laser has the details.

Who will treat you?

Aida Khazieva, a licensed cosmetologist and electrologist with 20+ years of experience, treats every client. She uses a sterile single-use probe on an Apilus device and picks thermolysis, galvanic or blend per follicle. The studio is rated 5 on Google. Read about her on her page.

What do you do about ingrown hairs and dark marks?

Treat the hair at the root, and leave the marks alone while they fade. Ingrown hairs are hairs trapped under the skin, and dark marks follow them. Removing the hair at the root takes away the thing that keeps curling back, so new ingrowns tend to form less often as the course goes on.

Do not squeeze or dig at ingrowns, since that makes marks last longer. Wear sunscreen on healing skin, because sun makes dark spots darker. Many clients see calmer skin over the weeks of a course, although results vary and marks fade slowly.

What should you do the night before your first session?

Keep it simple. Shave lightly, drink water, eat something before a long visit, and plan your drive. The roads around the airport are easy to find, and parking is free, so you can arrive a few minutes early without stress.

How do you book?
